IndiaMart is Evil
I have heard a lot about IndiaMart. I heard they do good work for you. They bring in good business for their clients. They charge pretty decent amount of money for a complete package of web design, development, optimization, and marketing. And surprisingly they get their clients genuine queries within weeks of the website going online.
This is not exactly a surprise. They are online since I believe 7 years, which is a lot considering Indian market. They are top for almost every Indian business related query on Google. So, it’s pretty expected that any export query from a foreign business client finds them to be a good option. So they have clients ready for almost any possible business line. This is where they hit individual search engine optimization people (like me and many other developers I know) very hard. They take all the top spots, leaving little for us.
It is not that they do great work with your site! I have a friend who got them to do his website. The website looked decent. But only on Internet Explorer! The site broke on alternative browsers. He got that fixed. No big deal. But after 6 months, I am yet to see his site do any good. All the incoming links he got are from me! His site does not even come tops on Google for his own firm name. Instead we get a generalized IndiaMart page. Here comes the brilliant logic of IndiaMart and every other business trading site. They make sites for you, but promote you on their sites. So, you pay them, give them traffic and advertisement from your site and get business queries in return. Impressive but awful considering they are not promoting you on the web. You get business as long as you pay them to be on their sites. But your site is nowhere in the picture. This is where individual web developers excel. They cannot generate business for you, but they make sure you are visible if someone searches for you or your related business. Not so delightful in short term but good for long term. You retain your identity on the web, get business directly. But there is always a risk in falling for fake business clients, or even worse no clients.
This makes our job to impress a client about our work over IndiaMart’s a lot harder.

The guys are IndiaMart are spammers and scammers. I’ve received 400 spam messages coming from their IP address under 8 different email addresses ranging from hotmail to rediffmail. I’m so fed up and upset with them that I’m about to write to my Congressman!
You still hv to be sure that the inquiries that you get after a listing on indiamart.com are really froma genuine source - most of the times indiamart’s executives do this spamming and you think its and inquiry
I am a client of IndiaMART.com for the past 5 years and continuously getting genuine business enquiries. Thats true that I receive 20% spam mails as well but it is part & parcel of the internet. As per me It is the must platform to take-off to explore international business opportunities.

they are not promoting you. they are promoting themselves. they are traders not web marketing people.
No, i’m not agree with you as i have been availing their services and highly satisfied….of course IndiaMART is a Web Promotion Company and they actually promote your company only ….i think your frnd must be from the few dissatisfied client of IndiaMART which doesn’t understand the web business properly. And ofcourse business is a give n take process ….u should reap in to get the most of it ….otherwise you are nowhere…..my frnd
do they promote your company? do your company’s website come at top for your targetted keywords?
i am quite sure that will not be the case. they are dalals and not web marketing people.
hi guys.. sorry to break your hearts, but i’ve worked there and seen that company grow from a mere 2 rented floors to a posh building. the management has got the guts, money and statergies to generate genuine queries. No small or big company could sustain long in business if it was in there path. And as for the executives.. they never generate spam, ’cause if they do.. indiamart would’ve been out of business… Burn compitetors Burn ;-)

Hi All
IndiaMART is a large customer oriented dedicated company. They have over 500 people working for them and currently have over 10000 active clients as of now. As far as I can say there may be case of miscommunication between a particular client and their marketing and customer support executive but they are committed people. They generate serious business. 25% spam and a few non responding vendors is part and parcel of Internet and any directory. Me and many of my friends have started a little with IndiaMART and now have grown and large website and advertiser with IndiaMART.
So its upto you to decide :-)
