China to launch as many as nine satellites in 2006

China may be facing minor issues related to their space walk program. However, they seem to be on target to achieve the next best thing. Establish a presence in the space in the form of satellites.

The country has said that they are planning to launch as many as nine satellites this year. This would include their first direct broadcasting satellite and one that is specially designed to carry seeds into space.

The first of these six satellites would blast into the space at the end of April. The information was revealed to the media by president of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp Zhang Qingwei.

Another one of the important satellites planned for launch this year is the SinoSat 2. It is china’s first direct broadcasting satellite, which is expected to beam TV programmes to even the most remote rural regions in the country.
