Freescale Semiconductor to expand Indian operations
Austin based microprocessor manufacturers Freescale Semiconductor has announced their plans to add 1,000 engineering jobs in India over the next four years. This would be their largest expansion in many years and Indian engineers stands to benefit from this move of the company.
Freescale Semiconductor has just acquired a 300,000-square-foot business campus in Noida and they plan to establish this as their technical headquarters in India. The company already has around 500 technical people working from them in India in units based in Noida and in a software development center in Bangalore.
After this planned expansion, India would become their largest engineering center outside the United States. Their US based competitors AMD and Intel both have recently announced expansion plans in the Indian market. Freescale’s move is just the latest example of how the American companies are targeting the high-skilled workers in India.
