Microsoft launches Live.com beta search engine

Software market giants Microsoft have launched yet another initiative with the aim of challenging the domination of Google in the search engine market. The company had some months back launched a beta MSN Search Engine. It somehow failed to get users interested in it as the recent statistics have shown that Google has gained as much as 50% of the market share in searches conducted in the United States.

The company has launched yet another beta search engine, which is accessible at Live.com and Microsoft plans to move it to MSN Search after the testing is over. Microsoft claims that this new search engine will help computer users find information faster, view it more easily, and organize it better.

This is one of the latest ventures by Microsoft in their Live services, which are designed to compliment its software offerings. They are already working on an updated Hotmail version called Windows Live Mail and have more services planned for the users.

Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of information services at MSN spoke about their latest search engine beta offering: “A lot of people think, ‘Hey, … Didn’t Google become the popular search engine? And don’t they just do a great job? And there’s no room for improvement. Once people get a feel for Windows Live Search. They’re going to say, ‘Holy cow, I had no idea that search could get this much better!’”
