Amazon.com talking to studios for movie download service

Ecommerce industry giants and one of the largest online retailers Amazon.com has been long rumored to be considering opening up a digital music store in competition with Apple and their iTunes service.

As per incoming reports now, Amazon is apparently talking to three Hollywood studios on creating a service, which would allow consumers to download movies and television programs and copy them onto DVDs.

This report has been released by the media group New York Times. NYT reported that Amazon is in advanced negotiations with Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios, and Warner Brothers. However, there are no details on pricing structure and other stuff.

Apple itself is rumored to be preparing a movie download service though nothing has been revealed officially by the company. Amazon is probably one of the most capable companies, which can challenge the domination of Apple in the digital content download industry on the internet.

Amazon.com has not issued any statement regarding this rumor in the market.
