Google to pay big in click fraud case
Search engine giants Google has said that they would be paying $90 million to settle its part of an industry wide lawsuit related to click fraud on online advertisements. This lawsuit alleged that search engines overcharge some advertisers by billing them for false customer leads.
This case has been a pretty old one and includes claims by several plaintiffs, including Lane’s Gifts and Collectibles. These companies claim that third parties abuse the Google’s AdSense system through fake click on advertisements leading to massive financial damages to them.
This latest deal is expected to resolve all outstanding claims against Google for so-called “click fraud” dating back to 2002. However, there are more similar case pending against the search engine company, which makes bulk of its revenues from online advertisement technologies.
This 90 million dollar payment would involve legal fees and credits instead of cash payments.
