BMW plans to start production of hydrogen-burning 7-Series in 2 years time
Germany based automotive company BMW has said that they intend to start serial production of a hydrogen-burning 7-Series luxury sedan within a period of two years. They are already the world’s largest maker of luxury cars and this new technology would give them a boost in the market.
A BMW spokesperson said in a statement: “We will present such a vehicle to the public in less than two years.†the company had earlier said in a statement that their hydrogen-fuelled cars, which emit only water vapor, would make their debut in 2010.
BMW intends to build around a few hundred such cars at first. These would enable the driver to switch between the two fuel sources considering the infrastructure to provide hydrogen would still take many years to develop around the world… even in the developed nations.
This duel requirement for fuel reserves would mean that only the luxurious 7-Series would offer the hydrogen package at first.
