NASA has big plans to put man on the far side of moon
The American space agency NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has revealed their ambitious plan to build one of the largest rockets ever to setup a manned mission to the far side of the moon.
NASA said that this planned mission would ferry a mother ship and lunar lander into Earth orbit to link up with a smaller rocket carrying the crew. Once these two are united, they would head for the moon where the larger ship will remain in orbit after launching the lunar lander and crew.
This mission would be part of the ambitious plan announced by the US president George Bush two years ago to expand the scope of space exploration and send more manned flights to the space.
This project is aimed at taking up to four astronauts at a time and land them on the far side of the moon to collect rock samples and carry out research. They would also be looking out for water, which might someday support a potential lunar base.
NASA added that this mission would be much larger than the Apollo mission, which took the first man on the moon and as a result would require two separate rockets to take the mother ship and crew into space.
