General Motors planning to enter smaller cities in India
World’s largest automobile manufacturer General Motors finally has a respectable line of products, which can actually interests the regular auto customer in the Indian market. Products from the Daewoo range branded as Chevrolets have finally enticed the Indian customers to go for GM products.
GM currently has on offer vehicles like Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Optra, and Chevrolet Forester. Aveo would be available as both a hatchback and a sedan and would become some of the most affordable cars from the GM brand.
The company is now planning to expand their dealerships in the C and D class cities in the Indian market. Ankush Arora, vice-president (marketing, sales and after sales), GM India said in a statement “While most of the new dealer outlets — about 80 per cent — will be extensions of our existing dealerships, the rest will be freshly appointed ones for these cities.â€
This would be followed by company’s entry into the E class cities in the Indian market. The company released more details on the Chevrolet Aveo model. Arora said that 35 per cent of the car is localized, which will increase to the maximum level of 68 per cent in six months time.
