Nokia claims hard times ahead for makers of music and video recorder makers

You would find it hard to believe that Nokia is currently the world’s largest seller of cameras in the world! The company sold as many as 100 million mobile phones with cameras in the market last year. This takes them ahead of all the traditional players in the market.

Nokia has now said that they expect the same to apply to makers of digital music players and video recorders in the coming years as they continue to evolve the mobile phones with these enhanced capabilities.

These fantastic sales figures have already resulted in companies like Konica Minolta Holdings and Agfa-Gevaert announcing their defeat and getting out of the camera making businesses. Anssi Vanjoki, head of the multimedia unit at the world’s largest cellphone maker added about this claim: “In the next 6-12 months, there will be more of these announcements. The next to disappear will be the makers of music devices and then the manufacturers of video cameras.”

Nokia manufactured as many as 40 million mobile phones last year capable of playing digital music and this is expected to increase a lot in the current year. And they are just beginning to incorporate video recording facility in their medium range mobile phones to get them more popular amongst the users.
