India to soon get ethanol blended petrol
The Indian consumer would soon get access to ethanol-blended petrol as the government has finally given the permission for the effort. Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and Petroleum Secretary MS Srinivasan confirmed this latest order, which would see this petrol blended with five per cent ethanol introduced in nine sugarcane cultivating states including Maharashtra.
This blended petrol would be available in these regions within the next two months. Other than Maharashtra, other states included in this program are Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, and Goa.
As per market experts, ethanol improves the burning efficiency of fuel. In the initial stages, five per cent addition of ethanol to fuel will be introduced across the country. The country would require as much as 5,000 kilolitres of ethanol for this and this is going to benefit a lot of farmers in the country.
