General Motors working on CNG Chevrolet Optra

More news coming in from the Indian division of the world’s largest automaker. General Motors India has said that they are also working on launching a CNG version of their popular luxury sedan Chevrolet Optra. This vehicle would make an entry into the Indian market within the next 2-3 months.

Even more interesting is the fact that the company added that they are also considering working on a hybrid model of the car. Ankush Arora, vice president (marketing, sales and after sales), GM India said on this news: “we do not have immediate plans to come out with hybrid engines but the parent company is working on it. We are also doing research work with the IIT for bio-diesel”.

GM India also has plans to enhance the network of sales points to 110 from 77 right now. In addition, they would be increasing the number of service outlets from 84 to 110 by the end of this year. GM has just launched their new sedan, Chevrolet Aveo in the Indian market and is soon going to launch the hatchback version of the car.

GM India is also reportedly working on a small car, which would take on several Maruti and Hyundai products for a larger market share in the coming years.
