Google dominates the UK internet search market

It is a well-known fact that search engine giants Google dominate the internet searches in their domestic market of USA. The latest statistic reports coming in claims that the company has a massive advantage in the UK internet search market as well!

The company in fact garnered three of every four online searches in the country during the month of February. These statistics were revealed by WebSideStory. Google’s market share in their home market of US normally hovers around 45-50%.

Rand Schulman, WebSideStory’s chief marketing officer said in a statement on their findings: “Even more so in the U.K. than in the U.S., when people think of search, they think of Google. This has large implications for U.K. marketers.”

Yahoo! was the second most used search engine in the UK market. Their market share was just around 9%. MSN was third with a market share of 5.46 percent. AOL and Ask followed these top three players in the market.
