Fujitsu planning to launch a 200GB laptop hard disk

Tech giants Fujitsu have announced that they are soon going to launch a 200 GB hard disk for laptops. This is expected to be available for sale by the third quarter of the current year. This could mean that the laptops using this massive hard disk could be available in the market by the end of the year just in time for the holiday season shopping fest.

Fujitsu had earlier said that these drives would not make it to the market until next year. They seem to be running ahead on their program it seems. The company is already selling hard disks capable of storing as much as 160GB of data.

The new product range would feature a 25% enhancement on storage. The 200 GB hard disks from the company would sport the regular Serial ATA interface and would target the market base of entertainment and multimedia laptops.

These are the laptops used by professionals requiring large amount of storage capacities for digital music and videos like the HD quality digital content. The company plans to expand their product range for laptop PCs and non-IT products like digital players, as this is one of the fastest growing segments in the market.
