Avie Tevanian to leave Apple Computers

Apple Computers have confirmed that the company’s Chief Software Technology Officer Avie Tevanian is leaving the company. He would be pursuing other interests after leaving the company he worked for nearly a decade.

He would be departing from the company at the end of the month, which would also see Apple celebrating their 30th birthday. Katie Cotton, vice president of corporate communications said in a statement that Tevanian is “leaving the company to pursue other interests” and the company thanks him for his many accomplishments in the last couple of years.

Tevanian became a part of Apple when Next was merged with the company in 1997. He was serving as the head of engineering for the Steve Job’s Next startup. At Apple, he served as the vice president of software engineering. He was later promoted to chief software technology officer position in 2003 where he looked after the development of the Mac OS X software.

Bertrand Serlet would be looking after his work responsibilities for the time being.
