Atom Entertainment to overhaul online gaming website
Atom Entertainment had recently said that they were going to launch a service inviting users to upload their mobile videos for public broadcasting. They have now added plans to start their own video game studio and overhauled its family of Web sites as part of a push to become the premier online gaming service.
This move would see the company integrating its various game-related services. Atom seems to be working hard on face the competition provided by new entrants into the segments largely dominated by them in the past.
Yahoo!, Google, and many small startups have gained in the video hosting and online gaming market in the recent times. Market analysts have claimed that the worth of the casual online games segment is expected to touch a massive $1 billion in 2006 and this has caught the attention of many big online players.
Dave Williams, Atom’s chief marketing officer said in a statement: “We saw a wide-open opportunity. There really is not a dominant player right now, there’s a lot of experimentation. Our goal is to be the first stop for advertisers, whether it’s reaching an audience or developing games, we absolutely want to be number one when it comes to ad-supported online game play.â€
