Dell, Apple way ahead of Microsoft in terms of Brand Trust

Bose, Dell, and Apple Computer are the leaders in the just released survey on the technology brands trusted by U.S. consumers. This research program was conducted by Forrester Research.

The survey placed Microsoft on the 20th position out of the 22 companies selected by the research group. Forrester analyst Ted Schadler said in a statement on this research: “A decline in trust causes brand erosion and price-driven purchase decisions, which in turn correlates with low market growth.”

He added that this research showed an across-the-board drop in trust in personal computer and consumer electronics brands. He added that most companies are falling in this survey over the years with only Apple and TiVo bucking the trend.

The report said this about Microsoft: “Microsoft faces big consumer defection risk.” It added: Some 5.4 million households “know they run Microsoft software but would be just as happy to leave it behind — if they could”.

Incidentally, this survey was conducted before Microsoft announced the delays in the upcoming Windows Vista OS and MS Office 2007 suite.
