Corrected: Barnes & Noble, Amazon rejects the latest Sony Reader
E-Books were once hailed to be replacements for books and paperback novels. However, that trend somewhat diminished as the average consumer rejected the various digital readers which were launched in the market by the consumer electronic manufacturers.
Sony is however, trying to change this trend with their new Sony Reader designed specifically for these e-books, which are sold online on various popular stores. However, two of the biggest online ecommerce giants have already rejected this device.
Both Barnes & Noble and Amazon have no plans to sell this digital device to their customers considering similar devices have failed in the past. Barnes & Noble representative Mary Ellen Keating said in a statement on this product: “We have sold e-readers before and they haven’t done particularly well.â€
Sony has also confirmed that even Amazon apparently has no current plans to sell this device on their store. However, smaller competitors like Borders Group Inc. have announced their plans to sell this e-reader at about 200 stores around the country.
Sony would also be selling this new product at 30 Sony Style stores nationwide and on its Web site. It is expected to be priced between $299 to $399.
