Bharat PC: Wipro Infotech launches their own rural personal computing machine
Wipro Infotech has their own plans to be a major player in the rural personal computing market and has launched a new product named Bharat PC. The company is aiming to bridge the digital divide in the country with this so called ‘SuperGenius Bharat PC’.
This product is based on the microprocessor giant Intel’s innovative PC platform and has been developed to meet the needs of villages and rural communities in the country. The company has taken care to provide localized computing solutions through this PC based on the Community PC platform developed by Intel Corporation.
Wipro claims that this machine would be capable of accommodating the varying environmental conditions prevalent in the country. This computing product is different from a typical home or business PC manufactured by the company as it uses a different software and hardware model to make it affordable by the rural community.
The ‘SuperGenius Bharat PC’ consists of a rugged chassis, which the company claims is designed to resist extreme dust and heat conditions.
