Cingular Wireless to sell ringtones from bands on MySpace
Cingular Wireless is the America’s top mobile service provider and they have announced their plans to sell ringtones from bands that put their music on MySpace.com. MySpace.com has become one of the fastest growing online communities and is one of the top 10 most visited websites on the internet.
The company believes that using ringtones from bands popular on MySpace.com would bring them more revenues from the teenagers who frequent the popular online social networking website.
David Garver, a Cingular marketing executive said about their plans: “One of our goals is to really appeal to and be relevant to younger people …. It’s a reason to stay with Cingular in a highly competitive environment.â€
Mobile customers of the company would be able to preview ringtones and buy them on the MySpace Web site. Cingular would be charging about $2.50 for each 30-second ringtone and will give the bands 25 percent of the proceeds.
