CleanFuel USA to invest in India for auto LPG outlets

With the demand for alternative fuels increasing in the Indian market, CleanFuel USA has announced their plans to invest in the Indian market for opening auto LPG outlets. They are one of the largest gas stations in the US and have expressed interest in investing as much as $5 million in India to set up 160 outlets by 2008.

They plan to cater to the rising demand for auto LPG fuel for the growing number of cars running on this alternative fuel source. Suyash Gupta, managing director of CleanFuel India said in a statement on their plans for the Indian market: “We are planning an initial investment of $5 million for 160 auto LPG refueling stations in mainly Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Punjab by 2008.”

The company had sent a representative to India as part of the official US Department of Energy delegation in 2002. Later, they setup their operations in the country soon after the regulations were framed for use of auto LPG. They already have a couple of pumps operating in some areas for the last couple of years and have been pretty successful.
