Microsoft working on Windows Live Product Search and Windows Live Academic Search
Software giant Microsoft has been adding more and more services to its Live branded services. The market for online services is growing fast and Microsoft aims to become one of the biggest players in this segment as well.
The company has confirmed that they are working on two new search services named: Windows Live Product Search and Windows Live Academic Search, which would come under the Windows Live Search network.
Windows Live Product Search would compete with Google Froogle service providing price comparisons on products. Users would be able to refine the search results by category, brand, seller, or specific keywords.
One of the company developers wrote on this service on the LiveSide Blog: “It is also rumored that as well as including expert or user-provided buying guides, Product Search will also provide access to discussions on products from articles and Blog posts, something Froogle does not yet do.â€
Microsoft is also developing an Academic Search, which would provide functionality similar to Google Scholar search. It would enable the users to search through academic journals or find out if books or articles are available in a library located near the user.
