Research in Motion to launch Blackberry in China
Makers of the popular Blackberry device, Research in Motion has said that they are planning to enter the lucrative Chinese market sometime by the middle of current year. China holds huge potential for the company considering it is the largest mobile market in the world and as many as two-thirds of the market is held by a single carrier China Mobile.
Research in Motion Asia Pacific Vice President Norm Lo said in a statement on their plans: “Our talks with China Mobile are going very well. We are working very closely with them and a deal is expected very soon, probably by the middle of this year.â€
He added that the company would be launching the BlackBerry device that uses third-generation (3G) mobile technology in the second half of this year. It is expected to be available in the retail market possibly in the July-September quarter.
RIM is also aiming at expanding their network around the world by collaborating with as many as 100 more telecom providers. This would include 10 mobile carriers in the Asia Pacific region.

China just launched (or will be launching any day now) its own service called redberry. This ought to get really interesting.
