BMW to enhance Apple iPod support on their cars
German automobile manufacturer BMW has said that they are going to enhance the support for the popular Apple iPod device in their newer versions of the car. This new interface would be made available in BMW models like the new BMW 3 Series Sedans and Sports Wagons as well as the 5, 6, 7 Series and the new M5 Sedan and M6 Coupe.
BMW added that the new upgraded system would also have support for the SIRIUS satellite radio as well as the recently introduced HD Radio.
The current iPod support system in BMW cars had a BMW iPod adapter, which integrated an Apple iPod into the vehicle’s audio system. The new mechanism would allow users to incorporate their iPods directly into their car’s sound system. In addition, they would be able to sort their music by playlist, artist, album, genre, podcast. They would also be able to generate a random selection of 500 songs from the user library.
Owners would also be able to control their music through their existing audio system and multifunction steering wheel.
