Helio LLC to provide Yahoo! services to their customers
Helio LLC is a mobile venture between SK Telecom and EarthLink and they are now supporting Yahoo! services on their mobile phones. The company said that they have agreed to put a link to Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO)’s Web search engine directly on its cellphone screens.
This feature would make it easier for their users to search the internet using the second most popular web search engine in the country. Helio is planning to sell mobile services using rented space on established networks in the next few months. They would be targeting tech savvy people in the country, which is already saturated with too many mobile service providers.
Most mobile service providers in the US is aiming at expanding their revenues by adding value added services to their phones considering the earnings from telephony services have become stagnant. By making it easier for users to access the net on their mobiles is an easy way to generate more income through these value added offerings.
Yahoo! on their part is already collaborating with Cingular Wireless and offers this facility on certain Nokia phones.
