MetroFi to setup Wi-Fi network in Portland
MetroFi has said in a statement that they have been selected by the city administration of the city of Portland, Oregon. They would now be designing and operating the citywide Wi-Fi network that will provide free wireless Internet access and improved public services.
The company added that this service would not cost anything to the city. The city administration believes that such a network would save the city millions of dollars in productivity and wireless Internet service fees.
MetroFi would be providing free internet access through this citywide established Wi-Fi network through local and national advertisers. Customers who want to surf without seeing any advertisement would still be able to pay USD 20 a month to avail this service.
Looks like this is going to become the future of internet connectivity in the nation, which already sees a lot of competition between cable and DSL operators along with traditional dial up services.
