Samsung Q1 ultra mobile PC coming next month

Samsung Electronics has said that their device Q1 based on Microsoft Origami technology would be coming out in the retail stores sometime next month. This platform was developed by Intel and Microsoft and was one of the stars of the recently held Cebit trade show in Germany last month.

Samsung would be first launching this device in its home market of South Korea. It would be available here from May 1 and would cost around $1264. The company had earlier said that the device would be priced at around $1214. Microsoft had itself said that they expected these devices to be priced between USD 500-1000.

May would also see this device being launched in other world markets like U.S., Europe, and China. Samsung is aiming to sell as many as 100,000 units of the Q1 in South Korea within its first 12 months on sale. Overall, they have aimed at selling around 300,000 units around the world.

Samsung’s Q1 would come equipped with a 7-inch LCD monitor. It would measure about 10.5 by 9 by 5.5 inches and weighs 1.7 pounds. Q1 would be powered by an Intel Celeron M processor running at 900 MHz and would have 512MB of memory and a 40GB hard drive.
