Windows Live Academic Search challenges Google Scholar

Microsoft continues to add on to its search services to compete with products already launched by Google. The software giants have now launched their Windows Live Academic Search, which would provide similar services to Google Scholar search service.

Windows Live Academic Search is a search service for finding content on academic journals. The beta version of this search engine enables the users to search the Web for journal articles, academic papers, and notes and slides. The sources would be specific to scholarly conferences in computer science, electrical engineering, and physics.

Windows Live Academic Search would be searching journals from Association for Computing Machinery, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Reed Elsevier and Wiley & Sons. Users would have to subscribe to get access to the entire content.

The company is for now making this service accessible to users in United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Australia.
