Ford to recall as many as 20,000 Mustang Cobras

The problems for the second largest US based automaker Ford Motors continues. The company has said that it is recalling nearly 20,000 Mustang Cobra sports cars. This decision comes after Ford received numerous complaints about the back of the accelerator pedal, which gets caught in the floor carpeting leading to a possible accident.

Ford informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in late January about this problem and added that they had received about 100 complaints and allegations of two crashes and one injury.

As a result, the company is now recalling 19,140 Mustang Cobras manufactured during 2003 and 2004. Ford added about the possible problems with the pedal mechanism in these units that the rear surface of the pedal could interfere with the carpeting during heavy throttling. This results in some problems for it to return back to its normal positioning.

Owners of the affected models would be contacted by the company later this month and they would not be charged for the repairs.
