Maruti to take on Hyundai in the export market
India’s largest automobile maker Maruti has been doing exceptionally well in the domestic market. They are selling more car than ever and have also maintained an excellent level of services and support.
However, this has led to a situation where they have been ignoring the export market. Hyundai on the other hand has been massively increasing the number of cars they are exporting to other markets around the world.
Maruti Suzuki has now come up with an aggressive plan to jack up its exports to substantial levels by 2008-09. MUL Chairman S Nakanishi said in a statement on their upcoming plans for the export market: ”Demand is going down in Europe. We are seeking newer markets to enhance exports by 2008-09.â€
One of the primary reasons for this is that the company is exporting older models as compared to Hyundai. Maruti is now exploring the possibilities of exporting their current generation vehicles to markets like Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Maruti is also already working on their plans to establish a new plant in Manesar with an annual capacity 0f 1,00,000 units.
