Porsche Cayman S: World performance Car of the Year 2006

World Car of the Year jurors has declared the Porsche Cayman S as their 2006 World Performance Car.

The jury decided upon this fantastic car from the stables of Porsche from an initial entry list of twenty-nine cars that were competing for this and many other titles.

The final three contestants for this title were Porsche Cayman S, Audi RS4, and the BMW M5. The jury said that the winner impressed them with its distinct presence set squarely between the Boxster and 911.

In addition, the 295-horsepower coupe possessed all of the balance of the Boxster’s rear-mid engine placement and all of the body stiffness of a 911 coupe. This made Porsche Cayman S a fantastic performance car.

Peter Schwarzenbauer, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America said in a statement after receiving the award: “Positioned between the 911 and the Boxster, the Porsche Cayman S has established its own unique styling and performance identity. Its selection as World Performance Car of the Year for 2006 is an early indicator it will take its place along side these two famed models as yet another benchmark sports car from Porsche.”
