Intel price cuts is bad news for AMD
Shares of AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) took a beating in the stock market as Intel announced a series of price cuts on their microprocessors. The shares of AMD fell down by as much as 9% as the investors were afraid that the cheaper Intel processor might result in poor sales of AMD processors in the coming months.
Market experts said that the investors are somewhat afraid that AMD’s impressive run might be over with Intel cutting prices of their processors to win back share it lost to AMD in the recent months.
With Intel choosing to price their newer products competitively, it might be tough for AMD to lure in new customers for their phenomenal products, which have impressed the hardware testers. However, AMD has been working hard on developing new products and plan to stay ahead in the coming times.
AMD said in a statement that they expect their second-quarter sales to be flat or maybe even lower than the first quarter’s sales.
