Cognos collaborates with IBM and Google to launch search tools

Cognos Inc. is launching a new search tool in collaboration with US based tech giants IBM and Google. They are hoping that this new product would help them increase demand for such similar solutions.

This new search tool has been named Cognos Go and it has been designed to make it faster and easier for a wider range of users within a company to find information. Cognos expects that this tool would help erode resistance to business intelligence technology.

Don Campbell, Cognos’s vice-president, platform strategy, and technology said in a statement: “It encourages broad user adoption, and this is a key element. To date, BI has provided a great deal of value to those that use it. But its adoption is less than 100 percent in organizations and this will allow that adoption to grow significantly as any user inside an organization can use a search engine.”

Campbell added: “We believe that through the experience of search, as they (users) start to experience some of the value that BI has to offer, it will bring them more into BI and they’ll start to treat it more as a tool for their job.”
