Wall Street Journal: eBay preparing for the Google threat
The Wall Street Journal has reported that ecommerce giants eBay is preparing itself to handle the Google threat, which might emerge anytime in the near future as Google prepares to expand its Google Base and Google Payment services.
In fact, they have talks with both Yahoo! and Microsoft, the two challengers to the Google’s dominating in the search engine and online advertisement market. The plan is to find a common ally in handling the threats from Google Inc.
The report from WSJ said: “After years of working closely with the search giant, eBay last year became alarmed as Google started assaulting its turf in multiple ways.†One of the possible alliances might see eBay expanding their advertisement spending with its chosen partner. They might also offer data it has collected about its consumers for better targeted advertisements on the net.
However, none of the involved parties has come out with any statement related to this report.
