Intel might launch its branded business PC technology today

Incoming reports suggest that the microprocessor giants Intel are due to launch their new brand for business-PC technology. This is one of the many steps they have in store for the consumer to take back the initiative from AMD who have dominated the headlines in the recent times.

Intel is due to hold a press conference scheduled at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in San Francisco today. The company has not commented on these rumors but a statement from the CEO Paul Otellini pretty much ensures it. He said in a recent statement: “Centrino and Viiv and the upcoming brand associated with the business desktop we’ll talk about on Monday.”

The company has been fairly successful with their branded computing solutions in the past. Centrino is their package for the mobile platform and is very popular amongst the PC manufacturers. It is essentially a combination of chips: a mobile chipset, a Pentium M processor, and a Wi-Fi chip.

Recently, the company launched Viiv as the name for its second platform brand to target home entertainment PCs. The latest such combination is expected to come for business products.
