Naza Group launches Sutera in Malaysia
Naza Group is the Malaysia’s No. 1 luxury vehicle importer and they are now taking on domestic automobile manufacturer Proton Holdings and Perodua in this market. The company has launched its first locally built compact car and they would also be launching it overseas in markets like India, Britain, and South Africa.
The company would be further spending $156 million, on its third plant to produce more models. Naza’s group chairman and founder, Nasimuddin Amin said in a statement on their plans: “We expect Naza Sutera to outperform its class rivals and quickly gain popularity among young consumers.â€
Malaysia happens to be one of the fastest growing segments of Southeast Asia’s No. 1 passenger vehicle market. Naza is hoping to sell as many as 20,000 units of its Naza Sutera this year. It is essentially a 1.1-liter car and is priced between 35,998 ringgit and 36,998 ringgit.
It would be taking on models from Proton Holdings and Perodua. Its prime competitor is the Proton Holdings’ 1.2- liter Savvy car, priced at more than 37,000 ringgit.
