Fiesta effect: Ford aiming at 50% rise in sales

Ford Fiesta is selling in huge numbers. This has led to Ford expecting their sales to grow by almost 50% this year. Ford India is aiming to sell 60,000 cars this year.

Ford India General Manager (Sales and Field operations), Mr. Nalin Kapoor said in a statement: “The Fiesta has been doing well for us and we expect the model to sell around 4,000 units a month”.

Ford India sold around 40,000 cars last year and Fiesta gives them huge potential for growth in the mid segment car segment in India.

Until now, Ford had to depend on the aging Ford Ikon model for their sales. With Fiesta taking the initiative and Ikon supporting it, they have a good chance to improve massively on their sales figures this year.

Mr. Kapoor added: “We have repositioned the Ikon and are targeting it at young professionals”. Ford India has phased out the 1.6-liter variant of the Ikon and is only selling the cheaper 1.3 liter variant.
