Intel unveils vPro brand for business computers

Microprocessor giants Intel has finally announced a new brand for business products as it hopes to compete with the new challenging products developed by its smaller rival AMD in this market.

Intel is planning to offer this new brand called vPro for companies to help them maintain fleets of personal computers. The company recently posted a massive drop in their profits as they are losing market share to AMD.

Intel is hoping that this platform would bring them success in a similar way to how Centrino helped them to dominate the notebook segment. Market expert Nathan Brookwood, head of semiconductor consultancy Insight64 said in a statement on this new initiative from the market leader: “What they’re trying to do is establish that a desktop PC going into an enterprise … will be better if it has Intel components in it than if it has AMD components in it.”

Intel would be launching the vPro range of business solutions by the third quarter of the current year. It is the third such brand from the company after Centrino and the recently unveiled Viiv consumer brand aimed at media center personal computer platform.
