Cisco and Nokia collaborating on mobile technologies
Cisco and Nokia have said that they are working together to develop mobile technologies for the future. As newer Wi-Fi technologies are entering this segment, these two tech giants would be working on building dual-mode VoIP and cellular handsets.
Cisco would also be working with Intel to develop VoIP-enabled notebook PCs. They are also planning to update its wireless, client-to-network communications infrastructure CCX (Cisco Compatible Extensions). This would help them support the new technologies on their chipsets.
This upgrade would be followed by Nokia launching products based on this technology in the fourth quarter. Intel is also planning to incorporate this technology in their future Centrino chips.
Research in Motion has also said that they currently support the CCX technology but declined to reveal more on their upcoming products.
