XO Holdings launches a high-speed wireless service
XO Holdings Inc. (OTC BB:XOHO.OB) is the latest entrant into the highly competitive high-speed wireless service market. They have launched their services in several U.S. markets for local businesses and cellular operators.
This puts them in direct competition with players like Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ). XO is mainly promoted by billionaire financier Carl Icahn and they would be providing cellphone operators with wireless links to complete phone calls between their cellular broadcast towers and wired networks.
The plan is to provide these services at prices “significantly” lower than landline-based systems. Their other competitors in this market include some big names like AT&T Inc., BellSouth Corp., and Qwest Communications International Inc.
They are currently offering their services in markets like Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, Tampa, and Washington DC. The aim is to expand this service to 50 more markets in the coming years.
