Ballmer clarifies Microsoft not planning a Google killer with eBay!
Microsoft’s chief executive Steve Ballmer said in a statement that Microsoft is definitely not working with ecommerce giants eBay to plot something against the dominating force on the internet Google.
Rumors are on in the market saying that eBay is talking with both Yahoo! and Microsoft to keep the challenge from Google at bay. Ballmer said in a statement to a German paper: “Of course we talk with eBay all the time. But we don’t get together in a secret circle and hatch plans about what we could do together against Google.”
Google has comprehensively expanded their services in the recent past, which threatens everyone from eBay to Microsoft. They are already the dominating players in the search engine and online advertisement market. With Google Base, they have something that can challenge eBay in the online shopping market.
eBay is one of the biggest buyers of online advertisements and if they stop doing business with Google, it might be a major setback for the search engine giants. Both Yahoo! and MSN are working hard on improving their online advertisement services to challenge Google on this front.
