Google fails to impress web users in South Korea
Google might be the leaders in the web searching market. However, they fail to impress the web users in the South Korean market, which is said to be one of the most wired countries around the world.
Web users in South Korea are some of the heaviest users of the internet. They Blog, they shop online and they make use of the Wi-Fi hotspots spread around the country. However, when it comes to using online services for searching the internet, Google is just a minor player in this market.
As per Web analytics company WebSideStory, Google referred only about 17 percent of unique visitors to other sites in March. Another firm KoreanClick claims that Google’s Korean site referred only about 10.8 percent of unique visitors in February. This is much below the usage of their search services in US where Google handles almost half of all search queries on the internet.
The market is in fact dominated by a local player NHN Corp.’s Naver Web site. This service accounted for nearly 58.4 percent of search referrals as per the statistics revealed by WebSideStory.
