NASA postpone more shuttle changes for launch
The US space agency NASA has decided to fly the space shuttle Discovery in July. To make this timeline, they have postponed changes to the external fuel tank for the time being.
This is however causing concerns for some engineers who believe that the Shuttle still needs some fixes before it is totally safe for flying.
The Space Shuttle fleet is having problems with its external coating as foam insulation falling from the outer body was said to be the primary reason for the crash of the Columbia shuttle.
NASA did good with the launch of the Discovery shuttle but still noticed some foam falling off during the launch. This got them to delay all further missions till the problem was fixed.
The space agency was till now in the midst of testing its second redesign. And now they have decided to go for another mission before making any more changes to the Shuttle surface.
Space shuttle program Chief Wayne Hale said in a statement on this decision: “The question is ‘Will the vehicle hold together or not? If the answer is ‘No,’ well we’re not going anywhere.”

About

Had the Space shuttle been placed on top of the booster rockets instead of on the side there would have been no problems with falling debris and in my opinion may have prevented the first shuttle disaster.
