Intel to spend big on promoting internet in developing nations
Microprocessor industry giants Intel has said that they would be spending $1 billion on promoting internet usage and computers in developing nations around the world.
This is just one of the many steps being taken by the company to expand into developing markets.
This latest program from the company is called “World Ahead†and it aims to bring high-speed wireless Internet access to 1 billion people living in so called poor nations.
Intel would also be training 10 million teachers to use technology in education. Intel chief executive Paul Otellini said in a statement: “Decades of providing technology in growing volume and at decreasing costs have driven great gains for developing nations, communities and people worldwide, but there is still much to do.â€
This program might also see Intel promoting the usage of Wimax as a wireless internet standard around the world.
