Massachusetts demands more actions from MySpace.com
MySpace.com continues to be pressurized by government bodies to improve on their crackdown on predators on their online service to ensure the safety of their legit members.
The state of Massachusetts has called on the News Corp owned social networking portal to strengthen protection of children against sexual predators.
One of the demands includes increasing the minimum age for users to 18 from 14. Massachusetts Attorney General Tom Reilly said in a letter to MySpace: “MySpace has not taken sufficient steps to ensure that the MySpace Web site is a safe place for minors.â€
He added: “An adult can register as a minor member and use that profile to seek access to the profiles of countless underage members.â€
The company is yet to respond to these latest demands made by the authorities though they have taken some steps in the recent past to counter such bad publicity.
