WSJ reports that Microsoft might team up with Yahoo! to compete against Google
After eBay was rumored to be talking with both Yahoo! and Microsoft separately to form an alliance to compete against the search engine and online advertisement market giants Google, we now have reports claiming that Microsoft and Yahoo! might form an alliance with a similar goal.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Microsoft has held discussions to buy a stake in Internet media company Yahoo to enhance their offense against Google.
However, talks about such a deal does not appear to be active at the moment but both the companies are under tremendous pressure from the market to increase their offensive against Google which is increasingly becoming a threat for a large number of software companies.
WSJ reported that Microsoft and Yahoo have discussed possible options over the past year. One of the possibilities included Microsoft selling off its MSN online network to Yahoo and takes a minority stake in the Internet portal.
Microsoft is spending an enormous amount of money to invest in technologies to fight better against Google. This is scaring the investors who are already frustrated of the numerous delays Microsoft Windows Vista has faced in the recent years.
