Wal-Mart to sell DIY kits for computers!

One of the biggest retailing chains in the world Wal-Mart now has plans to sell build-your-own-computer components in their stores in the United States.

They have been selling only prepackaged bundles of personal computers and accessories in most of its stores. With this new announcement, consumers would be able to choose between several different components as per their preference to configure a computer.

These would include the basic components, which form the computer like the processors, monitors, and other accessories like keyboard and mouse. Customers would be able to combine the components they want and create customized packages they can take home and build their own PCs.

They have tested selling such kits in around 20 locations last year and are now expanding this service to 1,200 of its 3,200 U.S. discount stores.

Wal-Mart can become a major competitor for existing PC manufacturers in the US market if they can lure enough customers with their awesomely priced computing products. However, it would take them some time and a lot of effort to challenge a player like Dell or Hewlett-Packard.
