Vodafone and T-Mobile roaming calls cheaper now
Mobile phone giants Vodafone and T-Mobile have finally given up to the demands made by the European Commission as they have now slashed the calling charges for customers who makes call while traveling abroad.
EC had demanded that considering the countries part of the European Union were collectively a group, consumers should not be charged more when they are roaming in these countries.
T-Mobile has said that they would soon be launching a new plan that would charge British subscribers travelling to 29 European countries, Canada and the United States a flat rate of 55 pence per minute for making and receiving calls.
Vodafone would be slashing charges from 90 Euro cents per minute to less than 55 Euro cents. The company believes that the new plan would benefit as many as 30 million Vodafone customers.
Arun Sarin, chief executive of Vodafone said in a statement on this new development: “The European Commission and European Parliament have made it clear that they expect to see change. Our announcement today shows that the market, led by Vodafone, is meeting those expectations by providing what our customers tell us they want.”
