Hybrid Vehicles sale doubles in United States
As per the latest data coming in, the sales of hybrid cars have more than doubled in the last year. This shows the growing trend in the market as the consumer now tends to prefer a car, which provides better fuel economy.
However, the hybrids comprise of just around 1% of cars in the country. As per the data available, the market saw registration of as many as 199,148 hybrid cars in the US last year. This is an impressive 139 percent increase from the year before.
A big reason for this growth is the increasing number of models based on the hybrid technology. Some of the newer models to arrive in the market last year were Lexus RX400h and hybrid versions of the Toyota Highlander and Mercury Mariner.
Toyota is scheduled to launch a hybrid version of their very popular Toyota Camry model in the coming months. This should provide a boost to the sales of the hybrid cars in the country as it is one of the highest selling and most loved cars in this country.
R.L. Polk analyst Lonnie Miller said about this upcoming hybrid car: “The Camry is the sweetheart of the midsize car segment. If it can break through, hybrids may be more widely adopted.”
