Yahoo, Telemundo to collaborate for online portal
Yahoo and Telemundo Network Group have plans to collaborate on a project to merge their U.S. Spanish language Web sites. This would help them communicate better to the common audience, the growing Hispanic market.
It would also give them a broader base to expand into the online advertisement market. This collaboration would see Yahoo en Espanol and Telemundo.com Web sites merging to feature the Yahoo Telemundo branding. In the later stages, it would be integrated into one Yahoo Telemundo Web site.
The web portal would offer Telemundo’s shows, sports and message boards and would use Yahoo’s search engine, e-mail services, instant messenger and Yahoo Music services. Yahoo en Espanol and Telemundo would be merging their staff and the revenues would be shared between the two companies.
Jose Rivera Font, Yahoo North Latin America general manager, said in a statement on this initiative: “Yahoo Telemundo will provide the kind of cross-media interaction that will deliver an integrated and immersive media experience for both users and advertisers.â€
